Oh My, A Politician Lies

I do not know what Israeli PM Netanyahu lied about to French President Sarkozy (read the story here).  I can understand that U.S. President Obama is annoyed with Netanyaho given the policies that Obama would prefer to pursue in relation to U.S.-Muslim relations on a global scale.  But, what I do not understand is the immediate jump to the conclusion (in some articles regarding Sarkozy's conversation with Obama) that the Republican's would use Obama's remark* against him during the presidential campaign.

*  "I can't look at him [Netanyahu] anymore, he's a liar," Sarkozy told Obama, the French media website Arret Sur Images reported. "You've had enough of him, but I have to deal with him every day," Obama is said to have responded.

While many may get upset about Obama's behaviors toward Netanyahu, the fact is that U.S. policy toward this ally (a much better ally than Pakistan) has remained consistent.  The U.S. government has voted with Israel at the UN and in every irrelevant UN committee in recent weeks regarding Palestinian aspirations of UN recognition.  So, no one who believes we should support Israel should be upset.  Obama, next time make sure the microphone is turned off.
