Ruthless Rye

Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye  6.6% alcohol by volume, 58 IBU

No picture available as I could not find one that I could place here without violating copyright laws.

Pours a pretty clear brownish amber with at least one good finger of light tan, almost light brown head (in one six-pack I had one, two and three finger pours--all tasted great the three finger head actually added aroma of the spices to the overall experience). Great retention on the head and some exceptionally sticky lacing (almost like the fingering of a fine wine running back into the bowl of your glass).

Citrus and piney hops blend well with the breadiness and spices. There are some really nice grapefruit flavors in here that remind me of good west coast IPAs, but at the same time it is darker and earthier than most IPAs. A little dry and boozy in the finish.  An earthier flavoring of malts exists in this brew, probably the use of rye.  Really nice peppery rye finger lingers on the tongue along with some piney notes.  One of the best seasonal brews ever from Sierra Nevada.
