Will We See A Coup in Pakistan?

Very interesting article regarding the firing of Pakistan's Defense Secretary in newswires today.  You can read The article here.  Why was the defense secretary fired?  Because the defense secretary (a former general who was supported in this post by the military establishment) must sign off on the firing of general officers.

Why would the Prime Minister think about firing officers?  Well, because the PM believes that the military and the ISI (Pakistan's version of the CIA/FBI/NSA etc. rolled into one) is trying to act like a government within the government.  The PM's actions confirm that the military and the ISI are not responding to civilian government directions and pressures.  The PM appointed the Defense Secretary's civilian aid as the new Def. Sec.  The commanding general of the Pakistani army has indicated the military will not take directions from the new Def Sec.

Will we see a coup? Possibly.  I am not certain nor an expert in Pakistani civil-military affairs, but this does read "BE ON COUP ALERT" to me.
