Wow, I can hardly believe but I actually agree with something stated by Barney Frank. Barney suggests here that we can go a long way toward deficit reduction by showing some spending restraint. I absolutely agree with this statement, we cannot spend more money without generating more revenue and most of us are unwilling to pay more in taxes and so generate more revenue. So, let's cut some spending. Do we need a Cold War style of military upkeep and spending?
Frank points out that if we were to limit defense spending to approximately $430 billion per year (down from a current level of about $650 billion) we could save some real money fairly quickly. In fact, we can get about $100 billion per year back by getting out of Afghanistan.
