A sad commentary on the Arab Spring. Apparently it is not about democracies and liberty to nearly the extent that the Western press and many of Western policy circles have proclaimed. Instead it might just have meant that the populations were tired of those particular governments, not tired of illiberal behaviors. To the point, I am thinking today about the use of force by the Egyptian military against Coptic demonstrators and the lack of action of the transitional authority in Egypt to stop/punish violence against Coptic Christians that appears to be perpetrated by Muslims.
